He told fanzine United We Stand: “The system wasn’t set up in the right way. Twelve scouts reporting to one chief scout was more set up to say no – too many exceptions to the process were made historically while this was being fixed.”We also have to hold our hands up and say that recruitment wasn’t at its best in recent years. We feel that we now know who our best scouts are.”The idea is to recruit in a closed environment, rather than listening to the press or getting distracted by conflicting agents’ claims. We try and make cold decisions based on information.”Judge the recruitment department in the coming windows where hopefully we can get a team to be at the level we want to be.” last_img read more

The five-star defensive tackle basically bleeds orange and white at this point. McKenzie, a 6-foot-3, 354-pound defensive lineman ranked the No. 6 player in the country by 247 Sports’ Composite Rankings, is as passionate a commit as we’ve seen. He’s talked trash about Tennessee’s rival schools. He’s helped recruit other top prospects to Knoxville. And he’s a very big fan of the song, Rocky Top.Here’s the elite recruit blasting Tennessee’s unofficial fight song in his car Tuesday morning. I will be blasting Rocky Top for the rest of the day #VolNation  pic.twitter.com/zeY13auBbm— Kahlil McKenzie Jr (@KM1_Era) February 3, 2015You’ve got a good one in McKenzie, Tennessee fans. Here is the latest on the status of the Heisman Trophy frontrunner.Tagovailoa, who’s been dealing with a minor knee issue for most of the season, came up hobbling following his most-recent touchdown run.The star Alabama quarterback appeared to tweak something in his knee after coming to a halt in the end zone.Tagovailoa was still able to jump up and celebrate with his teammates, though, so can it really be that serious? Here’s the play:That’ll do it.Let’s just give Tua the Heisman tonight.pic.twitter.com/2hnWwYaGXA— Sporting News (@sportingnews) November 4, 2018Tagovailoa appeared to be limping a little bit as he made his way off of the field, though. He was checked out by trainers and went into the medical tent for a little bit.The star Alabama quarterback then went onto the bike.Tagovailoa is back in the game now, though.“Tua stayed in the tent for about a minute,” CBS reported on the air. “The wide receivers were ripping him for looking like he was in slow motion.”So, it appears that Tua is doing just fine.Alabama is leading LSU, 22-0, late in the third quarter. first_imgA general view as the Baylor Bears take on the Rice Owls in the second quarter at McLane Stadium.WACO, TX – SEPTEMBER 26: A general view as the Baylor Bears take on the Rice Owls in the second quarter at McLane Stadium on September 26, 2015 in Waco, Texas. (Photo by Tom Pennington/Getty Images)A college football quarterback was just ejected from his team’s game after receiving his second unsportsmanlike penalty of the game. Officials ejected Baylor quarterback Charlie Brewer after he argued with an official in today’s game against Iowa State.Earlier in the game a brawl broke out among several players from both teams. As a result of that brawl, every member of both teams was assessed an unsportsmanlike penalty. In college football, players that receive two unsportsmanlike penalties are ejected from the game. Thus, Brewer received his second unsportsmanlike penalty for arguing with an official and was ejected from the game.Baylor QB Charlie Brewer just got ejected because of this. He got an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for arguing with an official, so now that’s technically his second of the game. Unreal. https://t.co/ZJeRNcYGXs— Yahoo Sports College Football (@YahooSportsCFB) November 10, 2018It’s a tough blow for the Bears, who currently trail 28-14 to the Cyclones.Brewer was hoping to lead his team back from the two-touchdown deficit, but now he’ll get to the locker room ahead of his teammates. At least he’ll get to take a hot shower first.Baylor is just one win away from becoming bowl eligible. The Bears will get another shot at a bowl against TCU next weekend.last_img read more

Ohio State defeated Michigan 62-39. (Photo by Jamie Sabau/Getty Images)Jim Harbaugh has said that he plans on staying at the University of Michigan, despite talk linking the Wolverines’ head coach to the NFL.The NFL reportedly isn’t giving up, though.Pro Football Talk reports this evening that at least one NFL is attempting to convince Harbaugh to leave Michigan for the pros. From the report:Per a league source, at least one team plans to make a run at Jim Harbaugh after the NFL season ends. Whether he’ll bite remains to be seen, but the team in question is prepared to put the kind of money on the table that will get Harbaugh’s attention.Chris Simms recently suggested on PFT Live that one team is indeed waiting for a chance to interview Jim Harbaugh. Simms wouldn’t name the team, and I’ve yet to be able to track down the team’s identity. But there’s at least one team that will try to get Jim Harbaugh to come back to the NFL after four years at his alma mater. Here’s what Harbaugh said about the NFL rumors earlier in the month:“This is a choreographed message that comes up at this time every year before signing day,” Harbaugh told ESPN. “It’s people spreading messages to further their own personal agenda.“But I’m on record right here, right now: I’m not going anywhere. I’m staying at Michigan. We have big plans here, and there’s a lot we want to accomplish.”Stay tuned.last_img read more

first_imgDabo Swinney running off the field after a Clemson college football victory.CHESTNUT HILL, MA – NOVEMBER 10: Head coach Dabo Swinney of the Clemson Tigers leaves the field after the victory over the Boston College Eagles at Alumni Stadium on November 10, 2018 in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. (Photo by Omar Rawlings/Getty Images)Dabo Swinney knows wide receivers. He coached the position before being named interim head coach at Clemson, and has helped transform the Tigers into a program that can definitely lay a claim as “Wide Receiver U.”Guys like DeAndre Hopkins, Sammy Watkins, and Mike Williams have played for the Tigers, and Justyn Ross and Tee Higgins certainly look the part on the current roster. According to Swinney, one of his new receivers might outdo them all, at least so far in his career.Joseph Ngata, a four-star member of Clemson’s freshman class, enters his freshman year as the No. 52 composite player in the class. Don’t be surprised if he is much, much better than that. When asked if there are any freshmen who definitely won’t be redshirting this year, Swinney quickly pointed to Ngata. From The State: Clemson coach Dabo Swinney was asked following Monday’s practice if there were any true freshmen players that would definitely avoid a redshirt in 2019.“Ngata, for sure,” Swinney said, referring to Clemson freshman wideout Joseph Ngata. “Fo sho.”From there, Dabo Swinney went on to say that he’s never had a harder worker than Joseph Ngata, and that includes Clemson’s many stars as seniors. It is hard to heap more praise on one player before his first college snap than Swinney has on Ngata.“Special. He’s as hard a worker as I’ve ever been around, senior included. I’ve never had a senior work harder. He is one of the most focused, one of the most committed young people I have ever seen,” Swinney said. “It’s amazing to watch him work. Loves to be coached, loves to learn. He’s a sponge. He loves to soak up knowledge, and then he applies it. He’s special.”Ross and Higgins could form the one of the best receiving tandems in the country. The team is also expecting another gamebreaker at the position, Amari Rodgers, back early from his ACL tear.Adding in Ngata, if he’s as good as Swinney says, and the Tigers receiving unit just feels unfair.[The State]last_img read more
