He told fanzine United We Stand: “The system wasn’t set up in the right way. Twelve scouts reporting to one chief scout was more set up to say no – too many exceptions to the process were made historically while this was being fixed.”We also have to hold our hands up and say that recruitment wasn’t at its best in recent years. We feel that we now know who our best scouts are.”The idea is to recruit in a closed environment, rather than listening to the press or getting distracted by conflicting agents’ claims. We try and make cold decisions based on information.”Judge the recruitment department in the coming windows where hopefully we can get a team to be at the level we want to be.”

In addition to the damage caused to the surrounding areas, Florence also had a major impact on the college football season.Teams such as Nebraska, South Carolina and East Carolina were forced to cancel games outright as the hurricane drew near. Now, teams are scrambling to add another game in the hopes of winning that coveted sixth game – enough to become bowl eligible.Among the teams adding games late are the Gamecocks. South Carolina made a late addition to its schedule on Friday afternoon when it was announced the Gamecocks will host Akron. The game is set for December 1.Akron and South Carolina add a Dec. 1 game in Columbia to make up for previous cancellations this season— Matt Fortuna (@Matt_Fortuna) November 2, 2018South Carolina’s contest against Marshall was canceled earlier this season. Here is the latest on the status of the Heisman Trophy frontrunner.Tagovailoa, who’s been dealing with a minor knee issue for most of the season, came up hobbling following his most-recent touchdown run.The star Alabama quarterback appeared to tweak something in his knee after coming to a halt in the end zone.Tagovailoa was still able to jump up and celebrate with his teammates, though, so can it really be that serious? Here’s the play:That’ll do it.Let’s just give Tua the Heisman tonight.pic.twitter.com/2hnWwYaGXA— Sporting News (@sportingnews) November 4, 2018Tagovailoa appeared to be limping a little bit as he made his way off of the field, though. He was checked out by trainers and went into the medical tent for a little bit.The star Alabama quarterback then went onto the bike.Tagovailoa is back in the game now, though.“Tua stayed in the tent for about a minute,” CBS reported on the air. “The wide receivers were ripping him for looking like he was in slow motion.”So, it appears that Tua is doing just fine.Alabama is leading LSU, 22-0, late in the third quarter. WACO, TX – SEPTEMBER 26: A general view as the Baylor Bears take on the Rice Owls in the second quarter at McLane Stadium on September 26, 2015 in Waco, Texas. (Photo by Tom Pennington/Getty Images)A college football quarterback was just ejected from his team’s game after receiving his second unsportsmanlike penalty of the game. Officials ejected Baylor quarterback Charlie Brewer after he argued with an official in today’s game against Iowa State.Earlier in the game a brawl broke out among several players from both teams. As a result of that brawl, every member of both teams was assessed an unsportsmanlike penalty. In college football, players that receive two unsportsmanlike penalties are ejected from the game. Thus, Brewer received his second unsportsmanlike penalty for arguing with an official and was ejected from the game.Baylor QB Charlie Brewer just got ejected because of this. He got an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for arguing with an official, so now that’s technically his second of the game. Unreal. https://t.co/ZJeRNcYGXs— Yahoo Sports College Football (@YahooSportsCFB) November 10, 2018It’s a tough blow for the Bears, who currently trail 28-14 to the Cyclones.Brewer was hoping to lead his team back from the two-touchdown deficit, but now he’ll get to the locker room ahead of his teammates. At least he’ll get to take a hot shower first.Baylor is just one win away from becoming bowl eligible. The Bears will get another shot at a bowl against TCU next weekend.
COLUMBUS, OH – NOVEMBER 24: Head Coach Jim Harbaugh of the Michigan Wolverines looks up at the scoreboard in the third quarter after the Ohio State Buckeyes scored at Ohio Stadium on November 24, 2018 in Columbus, Ohio. Ohio State defeated Michigan 62-39. (Photo by Jamie Sabau/Getty Images)Jim Harbaugh has said that he plans on staying at the University of Michigan, despite talk linking the Wolverines’ head coach to the NFL.The NFL reportedly isn’t giving up, though.Pro Football Talk reports this evening that at least one NFL is attempting to convince Harbaugh to leave Michigan for the pros. From the report:Per a league source, at least one team plans to make a run at Jim Harbaugh after the NFL season ends. Whether he’ll bite remains to be seen, but the team in question is prepared to put the kind of money on the table that will get Harbaugh’s attention.Chris Simms recently suggested on PFT Live that one team is indeed waiting for a chance to interview Jim Harbaugh. Simms wouldn’t name the team, and I’ve yet to be able to track down the team’s identity. But there’s at least one team that will try to get Jim Harbaugh to come back to the NFL after four years at his alma mater. Here’s what Harbaugh said about the NFL rumors earlier in the month:“This is a choreographed message that comes up at this time every year before signing day,” Harbaugh told ESPN. “It’s people spreading messages to further their own personal agenda.“But I’m on record right here, right now: I’m not going anywhere. I’m staying at Michigan. We have big plans here, and there’s a lot we want to accomplish.”Stay tuned.
Alabama supporter Walt Gary, the subject of an ESPN feature last year on college football superfans, passed away this week at the age of 36. He was a staple in Alabama’s locker room the past decade.Gary, who was born with Down syndrome, met with Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban each Thursday to give him his prediction on how the team would fare on Saturday.Gary reportedly died after being in a coma. He also reportedly had bleeding in his brain before he passed.Saban issued a statement after hearing of Gary’s death.“Walt Gary was a special part of the Alabama football program and our hearts are broken by the news of his passing. He was beloved by everyone on our team, in our athletic department and throughout the Alabama family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Walt’s family, friends, and everyone who knew and loved Walt as much as we did. CHESTNUT HILL, MA – NOVEMBER 10: Head coach Dabo Swinney of the Clemson Tigers leaves the field after the victory over the Boston College Eagles at Alumni Stadium on November 10, 2018 in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. (Photo by Omar Rawlings/Getty Images)Dabo Swinney knows wide receivers. He coached the position before being named interim head coach at Clemson, and has helped transform the Tigers into a program that can definitely lay a claim as “Wide Receiver U.”Guys like DeAndre Hopkins, Sammy Watkins, and Mike Williams have played for the Tigers, and Justyn Ross and Tee Higgins certainly look the part on the current roster. According to Swinney, one of his new receivers might outdo them all, at least so far in his career.Joseph Ngata, a four-star member of Clemson’s freshman class, enters his freshman year as the No. 52 composite player in the class. Don’t be surprised if he is much, much better than that. When asked if there are any freshmen who definitely won’t be redshirting this year, Swinney quickly pointed to Ngata. From The State: Clemson coach Dabo Swinney was asked following Monday’s practice if there were any true freshmen players that would definitely avoid a redshirt in 2019.“Ngata, for sure,” Swinney said, referring to Clemson freshman wideout Joseph Ngata. “Fo sho.”From there, Dabo Swinney went on to say that he’s never had a harder worker than Joseph Ngata, and that includes Clemson’s many stars as seniors. It is hard to heap more praise on one player before his first college snap than Swinney has on Ngata.“Special. He’s as hard a worker as I’ve ever been around, senior included. I’ve never had a senior work harder. He is one of the most focused, one of the most committed young people I have ever seen,” Swinney said. “It’s amazing to watch him work. Loves to be coached, loves to learn. He’s a sponge. He loves to soak up knowledge, and then he applies it. He’s special.”Ross and Higgins could form the one of the best receiving tandems in the country. The team is also expecting another gamebreaker at the position, Amari Rodgers, back early from his ACL tear.Adding in Ngata, if he’s as good as Swinney says, and the Tigers receiving unit just feels unfair.[The State]

How to Choose the Best Organic Mattress for Greener Sleep Editors’ Recommendations An Astronomically Fun Chat About Space and Wine With a Winemaker and Former Physicist How to Use a French Press Coffee Maker There’s actually a pretty good chance you’ve already heard about this thing. It made a big wave in the tech community when it was announced about a month ago, getting coverage on just about every major tech blog on the web, and for good reason – it’s wicked cool.If you’re keeping even a tentative watch on the progression of technology, you’re probably well aware that gesture control is the way of the future. Innovators in the consumer electronics industry are doing their absolute best to do away with barbaric computer peripherals like mice, keyboards, and trackpads, and replace them with futuristic, Minority Report style gesture controls. Up until now, the way we achieved this was with cameras and sensors built into the devices we controlled – the Xbox Kinect or Leap Motion, for example. The problem with that is that we could only control devices that are built with cameras and sensors in them, and for everything in between we’re stuck using buttons and knobs like primitive post-industrialized apes.Enter the Myo Armband: a different breed of gesture control device. Instead of relying on cameras to detect gestures, the armband uses embedded sensors that can detect muscle activity beneath the skin. With the help of some creative software, it’s able to detect even the slightest of movements – anything from the twitch of a single finger to a fully clenched fist. It’s also equipped with a six-axis accelerometer, so it can tell when it’s being waved around. And with Myo’s open API, the possibilities for what you can do with your wild flailing motions and superman punches are only limited by your imagination.Although you won’t be able to get one on your arm right away, Thalmic Labs (the company behind Myo) is currently accepting pre-orders for just $149, and they’ve already released the API to the public. That means that when the first orders ship later this year, developers across the globe will likely have software applications ready for you to use. Editors’ Recommendations Much has been said and written about rooftop bars around the country. Who doesn’t love having a drink outdoors while the city throngs teem far below? But the concept isn’t limited to just swanky hotels or apartment complexes. Airports can be stuffy and even the nicest first-class lounge can feel a bit sterile at times. Enter Delta Air Lines’ new outdoor Sky Deck at Terminal 4 at JFK International Airport. It’s anything but sterile. The 2,000-square-foot terrace is part of the new Sky Club and was developed in conjunction with Architectural Digest and interior designer Thom Filicia. Guests get unimpeded views of the runway, a first at JFK. The space is outfitted with comfortable JANUS et cie MOOD chairs and couches, perfect for those long layovers when all you want is to sink into a seat. Safavieh rugs dot the floors and Antonangeli, FLOs, Holly Hunt and Hinkley lights cast a ethereal glow. A small bar and potted plants complete the space.“Amid the hustle and bustle of the airport experience, we seek to create a refuge, which represents Delta’s dedication to elevated design and pays homage to an elegant lifestyle of travel and the spirit of flight,” Filicia said. The Sky Deck opened early this summer and is part of the new Delta Sky Club at the revamped Terminal 4. At 24,000-square-feet, the Sky Club is the largest in the Delta fleet. Guests can order food at both the Sky Deck and the interior Sky Club. Sushi, cheese, charcuterie and dessert are all available as is premium wine selected by Master Sommelier Andrea Robinson. In June, Delta launched its sister Sky Deck at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Smoking is prohibited at both lounges. Day passes can be purchased for $50. “Bogota is not a tourist place,” the customs agent at JFK said to me.“I know,” I responded through a smile, “but it was pretty damn cool!”It was the perfect exchange to sum up four days spent checking out Bogota, Colombia’s capitol and a landlocked city deep in the Andes Mountains that isn’t on most American’s to-do travel list. But the custom agent’s statement wasn’t exactly true. It’s not that Bogota isn’t “a tourist place,” it’s just that tourists haven’t discovered it. But given the cobble stone streets of the city’s old quarter, the mountain side parks flanking it’s eastern half, the abundance of ridiculously good restaurants, the boutique hotels and buzzing pedestrian filled streets, I’ll add a resounding “yet” to the end of the at last sentence.Part of that is because Colombia’s still working to beat it’s bad rap. So let’s clear that up real quick before moving on. Colombia spent most of the last 10 years waking up from it’s dark years in the ’80s and ’90s as a kidnap capitol with streets paved in cocaine, run by drug cartels and corrupt politicians who were fighting a gorilla war against leftist rebels. Like Star Wars meets Scarface. Not exactly the place most people would select to spend their vacation, but the turmoil has turned into history. These days Colombia tourism is in a sweet spot—a mix party/cultural/adventure travelers with their ears to the ground and gregarious locals who are eager to show you their country has grown up. It’s more Sophia Vergara than Mr. Escobar. More Shakira than Scarface. It is an easy 2 or 3 day pit stop on trips to Cartagena or Medellin, Colombia’s most touristy cities. Why go? Aside from upping your bad-ass cred for going off the beaten path, you’ll get a purer sense of the new post drug war Colombia.Things to do:1) Bike tour—Lets go through the top the reasons this bike tour is worth the $20 and a half day of your time. The guide was a knowledgable 21 year old anthropology student took and was not at all corny. She got us beers at a local Tejo Hall (Colombia’s national past time—think horse shoes meets skee ball and clay), walked us though a local market and introduced us to a man selling coca leaves (the chewing of which helps with altitude), whisked us through Bogota’s unbelievably seedy Red Light district (Do NOT take pictures, she said) and landed us in a cafe that roasted their own coffee beans on site. Also—a defunct bull fighting ring and an ephemeral cemetery right in the middle of the city.2) Ride a Funicular to the top of Cerro de Montserrate—It’s a mountain right in the city center of Bogota. Up top, you’ll find sweeping views, lots of vendors selling coca tea (made from the leaf of the plant that makes cocaine), and a church where Catholic pilgrims go to pray for good health.3) Be Cultural—Bogota has two unique museums. The Gold Museum is one of the largest collections of gold in the world that’s not stuffed in a vault. It is a great place to marvel at pre-Colombian artifacts and get a sense of the country’s indigenous history. The Botero Museum is free and features a personally selected collection donated by the artist himself. Why not?4) Wander La Candelaria—This is the old part of town. Cameras will be happy. Feet will be worked. It’s the touristy part of town that’s oddly vacant of tourists.6) Visit the Coloma Coffee Farm—A good day trip out to the countryside where you can pick coffee beans, learn how they’re made and then drink. Be sure to stop at a country restaurant on the way home. (Ask about Punto Verde, it’s a local fave and a great place to try rabbit au gratin. Yup.)7) Italian Food—”There’s not a lot of traditional Colombian restaurants in Bogota,” says native son Daniel Castaño, a disciple of Mario Batali who recently moved to Bogotga from Brooklyn to get in on the new action happening here. “They want the flavor of the world. I supply the Italian.” Emilia Romagna is the name of his most celebrated restaurant and where they cure their own meats.8) The BOG Hotel—There are big chains here, yes, but the BOG is the first design hotel to open in Bogota (there are only 250 so sanctioned properties in the world). It’s located in the posh La Cabrera neighborhood, as far away as you could imagine from anything dangerous. Actually, it makes Beverly Hills look a little shabby. The hotel itself is inspired by gold and emeralds, two of Colombia’s natural exports, and has the customer services to match. The rooftop pool looks out onto the entire city and the subterranean restaurant, La Cocina Mestiza, mixes Colombian with Arabic, French, Chinese and Italian. Mention it to anyone in town and watch them visibly start to drool.Get There: LAN flies direct from Miami to Bogota 10 Best Crime Documentaries on Netflix Right Now Editors’ Recommendations How to Netflix and Chill: Mastering the Invite, Finding the Best Shows, and More Long Hair for Men: Tips for Growing and Maintaining Your Style 12 Reasons South Dakota Deserves Your Attention What Wrangler Is Doing to Make Denim More Sustainable
